Former President Moon Jae-in's daughter in drunk driving accident in South Korea
As the daughter of former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Da-hye, caused a stir after she was involved in a drunk driving accident, it was revealed that she also violated multiple traffic signals.
The car involved in the accident, a Casper, was reportedly a car given to former President Moon by the president. According to multiple South Korean media outlets, Da-hye was driving around 2:51 a.m. on the 5th at Itae, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
He was driving while drunk in front of the hospital's Hamilton Hotel and collided with a taxi coming from behind while changing lanes.
Just before the accident, Dahee's Casper was in the right-hand traffic lane and was turning left.
The man was caught on camera turning left with his turn signal on. In order to turn left at the intersection where the accident occurred, you must check the left turn signal in the first driving lane (first lane from the inside).
However, the car driven by Da Hye had its left turn light on in the second lane. A right turn sign was painted on the floor of the second lane. This caused the car coming from the opposite direction to turn left.
The surveillance camera also captured the man avoiding Dahye's car. Dahye was driving a Hyundai Casper SUV at the time of the accident.
The car had been sold to Da-hye by former President Moon Jae-in in April of this year. Casper was established as part of the Gwangju-type employment policy.
The car was manufactured by GGM (Georgian Global Motors). Former President Moon purchased a GGM-made Casper in advance online in January 2021 while he was still in office.
Park Kyung-mi, former presidential spokesperson, explained, "Casper was purchased for President Moon's personal use. He plans to continue using it even after he leaves office."
Meanwhile, immediately after the drunk driving accident, police tested Da Hye and found that her blood alcohol level was 0.14%, which is the level at which a driver's license would be revoked (0.08% or higher).
The police have charged Da Hye with drunk driving. This accident has also sent ripples through the political world.
Rep. Kim Jang-gyeom of the ruling People Power Party said
In an interview, he said, "Someone who lived with him at the Blue House said that drunk driving is murder," and criticized, "No matter how many sophistry his father's story contains, we have to listen to what we have to listen to."
Previously, former President Moon said at a meeting of chiefs of staff in October 2018 that "drunken driving accidents are not just mistakes but can sometimes be acts of murder."
