Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced that it will offer free domestic flights to foreign tourists to encourage travel to smaller Japanese cities, but South Korea has been excluded.
On the 13th of last month, Japan Airlines announced in a press release that it would be "offering special benefits for international travelers" and that "by booking a round-trip international flight with JAL,
"If you join the event, you can book a free round-trip domestic flight in Japan," he said. This was planned as an event to attract visitors to small cities in Japan that are not visited by many foreign tourists.
This flight will take you to famous tourist spots such as Kinosaki Onsen, Okinawa beaches, and Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage sites. However, Koreans are not allowed to participate in this event.
The event was attended by tourists from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, China and Taiwan.
Tourists from the United States, Canada, Mexico and China will have to pay a $100 diesel fee if they stay in their first destination for more than 24 hours.
JAL said, "We have plans to expand the number of countries we offer in the future." Meanwhile, according to data compiled by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), 25.07 million tourists visited Japan last year.
Of these, 6.96 million were Korean tourists, accounting for 27.8% of all foreign tourists, making them the overwhelming number one.
