Set in the aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s, the story depicts the competition and solidarity surrounding Jeongnyeon, a "naturally gifted voice" who strives to become the best national drama actress, as well as her glorious period of growth.
In the drama, Kim TaeRi plays Yu, a genius pansori (a Korean folk art form that mainly involves singing and drum accompaniment) girl who comes to Seoul from Mokpo to become a national drama actress.
She will play the role of Ng Jung-nyeon, and is garnering high expectations from viewers. In the stills released, Kim TaeRi is seen wearing a hanbok from the 1950s, which is the setting of the film.
As she listens to someone's conversation, her concerned look in her eyes arouses the curiosity of those who see her.
The other stills released together show Jung Kyung standing at the door with a sad expression, raising expectations for the upcoming first episode as to what will happen to her.
"Jeongnyeon: A Star Is Born" will premiere today, the 12th, at 9:20 pm.
