”Mom, help me”... Woman killed by boyfriend called police three times = South Korea
A man who murdered his ex-girlfriend and attempted suicide by jumping off a building was arrested by police, but it was revealed that he had been stalking and assaulting her for several months. In particular, the victim had reported the incident to the police three times.
On the 14th, MBC reported that a man in his 30s, Kim, who murdered his ex-girlfriend in Busan in September, was arrested by the police.
It was revealed that the victim was extremely scared of the man's stalking. In March of this year, around 5 a.m., Kim broke into the entrance of an officetel (a residential and office space) in Busan.
The bell continued to ring and the door was knocked on. The victim, who was at home at the time, said, "I can't sleep and it's been three hours already," and sent a message to her mother asking for help.
However, she was afraid of retaliation and was unable to report the incident to the police. In fact, the victim wrote in a message to her mother, "If I call the police, they'll retaliate severely, right?"
Another message read, "Mom, I can't even go to the bathroom... If I go to the bathroom, the sound of the water flushing will let people know I'm in the house. Mom, I thought I was going to die..."
After that, Kim's stalking became even more severe, and he used abusive language, made threats, and assaulted her indiscriminately. The family told reporters, "Kim recorded the dashcam footage of his car.
He turned off the light, grabbed my sister by the collar, dragged her out of the car, took her to a place where there was no CCTV and assaulted her," she testified.
The victim, who died, called the police for the first time that day, and twice more afterwards.
Despite this, Kim was investigated without being detained and it was discovered that he continued to stalk the victims by showing up at their homes and workplaces.
Kim is accused of murdering his former girlfriend at an officetel in Busan on the afternoon of the 3rd of last month. On the same day, Kim personally reported to the police that he had "killed his girlfriend."
Police who responded to the call persuaded Kim, who was sitting on the railing of the rooftop and about to jump, to safety and arrested him.
At the time, the victim was found stabbed with a weapon and unconscious at her home.
She was later taken to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The victim had been suffering from severe domestic violence for at least six months before she was murdered.
Kim, who has been arrested and indicted on charges including murder, will stand trial starting at the end of this month.
