All three major indicators of China's shipbuilding industry maintain growth: Chinese report

According to data from the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, China's completed shipbuilding volume (deadweight tonnage basis, hereinafter the same) in the first nine months of this year was 36.34 million tons, up 18.2% from the same period last year.
Order volume increased 51.9% to 87.11 million tons, while on-hand orders as of the end of September increased 44.3% to 193.3 million tons.
China's three major shipbuilding indices, in terms of deadweight tonnage, account for 55.1%, 74.7%, and 61.4% of the world total, respectively.
China has received over 70% of the world's green ship orders. During the same period, the new characteristics of China's shipbuilding industry were green (environmentally friendly), high added value, and original technology.
A representative of the association said, "The Chinese shipping industry is accelerating technological innovation and the application of new technologies from design to construction and related services. It is shifting to 'green, high-quality ships.'"
The advancement of greening has increased the value of the three major ship types - bulk carriers, tankers and container ships - and has become an important factor in increasing the profits of shipping companies.
