有害物質検出の中国ECサイト製品、止めても止めても流通=韓国
Chinese e-commerce site products found to contain harmful substances continue to sell in South Korea despite repeated halts
It has been discovered that a significant number of products sold on Chinese e-commerce sites that have been found to be carcinogenic or have been deemed unsafe are still in circulation.
Prior to this, the city of Seoul had issued a total of 18 bans on AliExpress, Team, and other online retailers since March of this year in response to growing concerns about products purchased directly from China.
Safety testing is being carried out on products sold at Seaen and other outlets. The testing is carried out by three external specialist institutions, including the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Institute for Health and Environment.
If any harmful substances are detected, or if there is concern that the product's specifications or durability do not meet domestic standards and may cause injury, we will request the e-commerce site to stop selling the product.
If any of the products cited by Seoul City are found on this e-commerce site, sales will be suspended or a notice will be sent stating that the products cannot be shipped to Korea.
The problem is that the same product is sold with only slight changes to the design or pattern. In fact, a child's clothing product was found to contain formaldehyde in the lining that exceeded the legal limit.
Many of the products, including a suitcase for children and a children's bicycle with handlebars that contained 20 times more lead than the legal limit, were found to be very similar to the products found in the Seoul City inspection.
It is not a problem. Also, cosmetics sold at Shien and found to have Staphylococcus aureus after inspection by the city of Seoul are still being sold on AliExpress. Staphylococcus aureus is a disease caused by bacteria.
These are pathogenic bacteria and substances that should not be detected according to the domestic cosmetic safety management standards. However, there is no way to block these products from being distributed at the source.
While current law allows for sanctions when it comes to large purchases, it cannot prevent people from directly purchasing overseas products for personal consumption.
However, Seoul City has not yet inspected all products suspected to be identical and is not selling them.
It is not realistic to ask them to stop selling the products, and it is also impossible to expect the operators of the e-commerce sites to voluntarily inspect the products in question beforehand.
Ultimately, consumers must be cautious about harmful substances and pay attention when purchasing directly.
The official urged people to "take special care with products aimed at children and young people with weakened immune systems."
