Hyundai to launch first locally produced EV in India, strengthen production structure - South Korean media

Hyundai Motor has announced that it will begin selling its India-made electric vehicle (EV) sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Creta EV, for the first time from January 2025.
The Creta EV will be the first EV to be produced at the company's Chennai plant, which began mass production of finished vehicles in 1998.

The company is aiming to sell a total of 605,000 units in 2024. In 2023, the company will increase its annual production capacity from 10,000 units at its Pune plant, which it acquired from General Motors (GM).
The company is currently working on improving its facilities to boost production to over 200,000 units. Once the Pune plant is operational, it will be able to produce 1 million units by the second half of 2025, together with the Chennai plant, which has a production capacity of 824,000 units.
