GS Group commercializes wind power capacity forecasting method, realized through digital transformation (South Korea)

GS E&R, an energy company, announced that it has commercialized the advanced wind power capacity forecasting solution it has developed through its subsidiary GS Wind Power.
It is said that it is more difficult to predict the power generation capacity of wind power generation than solar power generation. Many of them are installed in mountainous areas, and the location, altitude, and wind characteristics of each generator are different.
GS E&R has used artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning technology to reduce the error in forecasting wind power generation capacity to less than 10%.
The various characteristics of the electric power generation environment are reflected in the numerical forecast model (WRF), making it possible to predict each generator.
The lower the rate, the more the operator can receive additional settlement money from the strategic exchange. GS E&R's wind power capacity forecasting solution is the latest step in the digital transformation that GS Group has implemented across the company.
This is an example of transformation (DX) bearing fruit as a new business. Until now, the group has focused on supplying equipment, but going forward, it will also expand its digital services.
GS E&R also plans to expand its partnerships with Korean wind power plants and expand into the GS Group's new business of virtual power plants (VPP).
