”Please raise it”... Couple who gave baby to stranger, ”whereabouts unknown” = South Korea

Prosecutors have sought a prison sentence for a man in his 30s who illegally gave up his newborn baby for adoption to a woman whose name he did not even know without even filing a birth certificate.
According to the Korean legal profession on the 23rd, the prosecution held a hearing at the Daejeon District Court.
At the closing hearing of the case involving the alleged violation of the Child Welfare Act (child abandonment and neglect), the court sought a two-year prison sentence for defendant A, who is in his 30s, and requested the court to restrict him from working in any child-related institution for five years.
Defendant A is suspected of illegally giving up her child for adoption without even filing a birth certificate after giving birth at a maternity clinic in Jung-gu, Daejeon on February 9 last year.
The defendant couple, A, searched for someone to raise their child through an internet community and handed the child over to a woman whose name they did not even know.
At the time, the identity of the woman who had taken the child was unknown, and the child's whereabouts were unknown.
Defendant A's lawyer admitted to all the charges brought by the prosecution and said, "I have no excuses to make regarding the crime in this case," and "I will deal with the matter with utmost care."
"I understand that the crimes he committed are far too selfish to warrant such a sentence, but I ask that you please take into consideration that the defendant has fully admitted to his crimes and is deeply remorseful."
In his final statement, Defendant A said, "I am now in court, ashamed of my past wrong decisions, and cannot look up."
I'm ashamed of myself for not even bothering to look for my child, thinking that he would be spending his time in a lonely place. Once this trial is over, I will make an effort to find my child, and live with an apology in my heart."
