South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports companies expanding into India... Samsung, Hyundai and others participate in roundtable discussion
The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking new steps to support South Korean companies entering the Indian market. On the 23rd, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 22nd "Support measures for South Korean companies entering India."
The meeting was attended by representatives from Samsung Electronics, Krafton, Hyundai-Kia Motors, Mirae Asset Securities, Lotte Wellfood, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, and Daewoo Engineering & Construction.
This was the second meeting this year, following the first in March. The participants shared the experiences of companies that have entered the Indian market, identified obstacles and problems that hinder entry, and proposed support measures.
"The number of Korean companies expanding into India is increasing, and this is a major factor in the development of Korea-India relations," said Oh Jin-hee, deputy director-general for Asia-Pacific affairs at the ministry.
"The government will continue to take an interest in and provide support to companies moving into India so that they can operate in a better environment," he said.
At the meeting, Kim Jong-gon, head of the India and South Asia team at the Korea Institute for Foreign Policy Studies (KIEP), gave a presentation on the trends and outlook for the Indian economy.
The participating companies shared their experiences of entering the Indian market and exchanged views on the challenges they face and government support.
Meanwhile, the ministry said in August that it had received a report from the 10th Korea-India Foreign Ministers' Joint Meeting held in March.
As a follow-up to the committee, the two sides signed an agreement to launch the Fast Track Mechanism (FTM), which aims to provide solutions to the problems faced by global companies investing in India through the Indian government.
The system allows companies to directly raise issues with the government and seek a solution. Meetings are scheduled to be held twice a year, with the Minister of the Japanese Embassy in India and the Director General of INDIA as the chief representatives.
Finally, the ministry made clear its stance that it will "continue to provide multifaceted support to companies entering India to ensure their smooth operations and resolve any issues they may have."
