“「ILLIT」、「NewJeans」の盗作ではない”、BELIFT LABの代表、国政監査に出席…“音盤押し出し”疑惑などを釈明
”ILLIT” and ”NewJeans” are not plagiarized, BELIFT LAB's CEO attends National Assembly audit... Explains allegations of ”record pushing”
Kim Tae-ho, CEO of BELIFT LAB and CEO of HYBE, attended a parliamentary audit in South Korea and responded to various allegations.
On the 24th, Kim Tae-ho appeared as a witness at the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee's comprehensive parliamentary audit.
The office of Min Hyun-bae, a member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, selected Kim Tae-ho as a witness, and he attended and answered the three allegations.
First, Rep. Min Hyun-bae said, "Are you aware of the Popular Culture Industry Act? In HYBE's 'Sustainable Management Report,' it states that it respects the human rights of its members.
"We are working hard to abide by the message we have announced to the public," Kim Tae-ho said.
In response, Rep. Min released HYBE's weekly industry report, revealing some of its frank assessments of artists.
Rep. Min said, "The information is too explicit. It contains slanderous comments about our appearance." Kim Tae-ho, the company's CEO, said, "We are in the K-pop industry. We have no right to slander HYBE.
"We are exploring various reactions to our artists and to the company in general. I don't remember this document. I remember it as a report prepared by our company."
Rep. Min said, "There are expressions of low quality, such as evaluations of appearance. The problem is that these expressions are directed at minors.
"I don't think so," said Kim Tae-ho, urging Rep. Min to be careful with his wording.
Secondly, Rep. Min pointed out the allegations of HYBE pushing out albums. Rep. Min said, "HYBE's initial sales
"We use two methods to increase sales. We sell albums with a return policy. We also use fans autographing sessions and lucky draws to get rid of records by using them as bait to enter events."
CEO Kim Tae-ho said, "We have never sold products with return conditions. We have had an external audit done on this issue. We sold products with return conditions only in about 0.0% of the contract.
"In the future, it will be impossible to sell in this way," said Rep. Min. "Looking at the email dated April 10, 2023, it says that there was a sale in the month of the return policy.
The company also responded by saying, "This should not have happened. It is not a company policy. It is the discretion of the workers to make some returns.
I confirmed that the quality was high. We will set up company guidelines and create regulations to prevent this from happening again. I understand the concerns. We will work to improve any shortcomings.
In response, Rep. Min said, "This is market disruption." Kim Tae-ho responded, "There was no actual 'push-out,' so it's not market disruption.
The amount of goods sold in the month was not enough to disrupt the market or affect sales."
When asked if LAB plagiarized "New Jeans," Kim Tae-ho, the company's CEO, said, "It's not true. We will not be able to respond to this matter at BELIFT.
As the representative of LAB, I have filed civil and criminal charges against former CEO Min Hee Jin. We are waiting for the decision of the Ministry of Justice. We have evidence that proves this is not true.
Finally, CEO Kim Tae-ho said, "I'm sorry that this whole thing has caused you to feel exhausted. I hope you won't do it again."
I am truly sorry for causing so much fatigue. The mission of entertainment is to entertain fans and the public, but I have disappointed them. I will try not to cause any more fatigue."
