「本当に爆発するか?」…知りたくてアパートのガス管を切断した50代=韓国
”Will it really explode?” A man in his 50s cut the gas pipe in his apartment to find out (South Korea)
A man in his 50s was given a suspended sentence after he cut a gas pipe and risked an explosion simply out of curiosity.
On the 25th, the Gwangju District Court indicted him on charges of attempted gas release.
The court sentenced Defendant A (56) to one year in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to be placed on probation. He was also given a special order to refrain from drinking alcohol until his blood alcohol level reaches 0.03% or higher.
Defendant A was indicted on suspicion of cutting gas pipes inside an acquaintance's apartment in Gwangju on April 24th of this year, endangering the residents of the apartment complex.
At the time, Defendant A was watching TV while drinking with his acquaintances and was in charge of managing LPG gas cylinders at the construction site.
I got into an argument with some acquaintances after watching a TV program that covered the reality of gas leaks. I argued with them over the opinions that "cutting the gas pipes could lead to an explosion and fire" and "there is a safety device so gas won't leak."
During the argument, Defendant A cut the gas pipes. Although there was no actual explosion or fire as a result of Defendant A's crime, some gas leaked.
Defendant A said, "While I was drunk and arguing with some acquaintances, I said, 'Well, I'll just cut the gas pipes myself.
The court said, "All charges have been admitted, and the act of cutting the gas hose poses a high risk of fire if not properly handled, and the statutory punishment is heavy. However, he regrets his crime.
"We took into consideration the fact that he was drunk and the crime was committed accidentally," he said.
