South Korea's Ministry of Interior and Safety inspects snow removal agents and other winter disaster management resources
On the 27th, the South Korean Ministry of Interior and Safety (corresponding to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Japan) announced that it will conduct a "Central Joint Inspection of the Management Status of Disaster Management Resources" for five days from the 28th, ahead of the winter natural disaster countermeasure period that begins next month.
The winter disaster countermeasure period this year will run from November 15 to March 15 next year. The inspection was carried out to check the availability of snow removal agents, first aid kits, and other major winter disaster management equipment in preparation for heavy snowfall and cold waves.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, together with local governments, organized a central joint inspection team (8 teams, 25 people) to check the stockpiling and management of natural resources in 47 cities and provinces in 17 cities and provinces.
・Sample inspections will be carried out for districts and counties. The inspections will share the current status of resource holdings between local governments and complement the registered information in the "Integrated Management System for Disaster Management Resources (KRMS)."
The ministry plans to actively encourage mutual support through agreements with public institutions and private organizations in case assistance is needed in the form of equipment and human resources.
"We will establish a support system for disaster management resources among related agencies so that we can respond quickly to unexpected weather conditions such as heavy snowfall and cold waves."
