”I'll keep this a secret from my mother” - Sexual assault on niece discovered again... 9 years in prison = Korea

A man in his 50s who sexually assaulted his intellectually disabled niece, wrote a memorandum and then committed another sexual assault has been given a heavy prison sentence.
The Cheonan branch of the Daejeon District Court in South Korea has issued a ruling regarding the punishment of sexual violence crimes.
Defendant A, who was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Special Act on Sexual Assault against Women (sexual assault by relatives), was sentenced to nine years in prison. In addition, he was ordered to complete an 80-hour sexual assault treatment program and a seven-year child abuse suspension.
- The court ordered both to restrict his employment at youth and disability-related institutions. According to the indictment, defendant A had raped his intellectually disabled niece in his truck six times between 2021 and 2023.
In order to cover up the crime, Defendant A told his niece "never tell her mother," and after the sexual assault was discovered,
The court said, "The defendant continued to commit the same crime even after the victim's mother found out about his crimes, showing little remorse, and leaving the victim and her family in shock and pain.
He explained the reason for the sentence by saying, "Since the suspects have also pleaded for severe punishment, it is inevitable that a severe punishment appropriate to the crime will be imposed."
