Gangwon Governor Kim Jin-dae denies allegations that his wife Kim Kun-hee interfered in the election endorsement... ”I got an opportunity through fasting” = South Korea
Regarding allegations that Kim Gun-Hee's wife interfered in the nomination process for the June 2022 local elections, Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-Tae has denied any links to him, saying they are groundless.
On the 28th, Governor Kim was asked at a regular press conference held at the prefectural office briefing room, "Please clarify your thoughts." He replied, "I will use the hunger strike to improve the chances of the party elections.
Governor Kim said, "I have refrained from speaking many times because I thought it would be no good if this were to be expanded and reproduced, but I will speak briefly."
After the speech, he said, "It is impossible to know where I went or what I asked for," and added, "Through the fast and sit-in, I was given the opportunity to run in the party elections, and now I am here.
"There is no need to explain anything further," he added. Governor Kim was the cut-off candidate for the People Power Party's (ruling party) Gangwon Province gubernatorial primary for the June 1, 2022 local elections.
After that, he got the opportunity to run in the party elections through a fasting protest he held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, and won the election against former KBS anchor Hwang Sang-moo.
After running in the presidential election, he won the local elections, defeating Lee Kwang-jae, then candidate of the Democratic Party.
