An Sung Hyun, a former member of "Fin.KL" and husband of Song Yuri, a professional golfer, has announced that he will be taking part in the coin (virtual currency)
He was put on trial for allegedly soliciting billions of won under the pretext of a meeting with a woman, and the prosecution sought a seven-year prison sentence.
At the closing hearing held before Judge Jang Do-seon, the prosecution sought a seven-year prison sentence for An Sung Hyun. The prosecution also sought a 2 billion won (US$2.5 million) fine and the forfeiture of two luxury watches.
The former CEO of Bithumb Holdings, Lee Sang-jun, who was also indicted, was sentenced to five years in prison and 30.5 million won in fines.
The indictment sought the confiscation of 1.525 billion won and a fine of 1.525 billion won. An Sung Hyun and former CEO Lee allegedly took A Coin from businessman Kang Jong Hyun between September and November 2021.
The two are accused of embezzlement and bribery for soliciting the listing of Kang's coin on Bithumb, a stock exchange that has been in the spotlight. According to the prosecution, the two men were accused of receiving billions of won in bribes.
The company said it received 3 billion won in cash, two designer watches worth 400 million won, and a membership card to a luxury restaurant worth 11.5 million won from Song, an official at the issuing company.
In response, An Sung Hyun said, "Former CEO Lee has asked for the 2 billion won listing fee quickly," and deceived Kang, requesting that he pay the additional 2 billion won.
An Sung Hyun and Lee were handed over to the trial without bond on September 8 last year.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the ruling. Meanwhile, An Sung Hyun debuted as a professional golfer in 2005. In 2017, he became an actor and former member of the group Fin.KL.
He is married to Ng Yuri and has twin daughters.
