The government is currently giving priority to patent applications related to cutting-edge technologies that are directly linked to national competitiveness. Currently, applications can be given priority in the fields of semiconductors, displays, and secondary batteries.
If a patent application in the semiconductor and display fields is applied for priority examination, the examination result can be received in an average of 1.6 months (as of the end of September this year).
This will be shortened by more than 14 months compared to the 15.9 months currently required for general review processing for the Korean market.
