According to Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 4th, the police applied for an arrest warrant on the 3rd for a woman in her 20s who was driving without a license, crashing into seven cars and driving the wrong way down a Tehran road.
Suspect A is accused of driving the wrong way and hitting seven cars on Teheran Road in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu at around 1:39 p.m. on the 2nd (fleeing causing injury under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and driving the wrong way under the Road Traffic Act).
Nine people were slightly injured in the accident. Prior to this, at around 1 p.m. on the day of the accident, suspect A was driving without a license and hit a 4-year-old child on a road in Geoyo-dong, Songpa-gu.
It was discovered that the suspect ran over a mother in her 30s, Ms. B, who was pushing a stroller with her child inside, with his car and was on the run. Suspect A fled the scene in his car, and Ms. B chased after him, saying, "You can't just run away like this."
After shouting, "I have to go now," he fled in his car. After 40 minutes, suspect A was arrested on a four-lane road in Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, in six cars and a motorcycle.
The car crashed into a second vehicle and even drove in the wrong direction. Even after the police arrived, suspect A did not immediately get out of the car. After 40 minutes of persuasion by the police, he finally got out of the car. Nine people were slightly injured in the accident.
The man sustained injuries and a total of eight cars and motorcycles were damaged. The police believe that Suspect A caused the accident through gross negligence and have also applied charges of violating the Special Law on Traffic Accident Handling. Suspect A was arrested red-handed.
During the police investigation, he reportedly stated that he had taken a tranquilizer. A police source said, "The simple drug test showed a negative reaction, but we cannot be precise until the results of the detailed test are available.
"We don't know," he said, "but we think the most likely reason is that he took drugs." The police have secured A's medicine bag and plan to compare it with the hospital prescription and request a detailed test of the drug's ingredients.
Meanwhile, the police plan to take suspect A into custody and investigate the details of the accident. A pre-arrest hearing (substantive warrant review) will be held today.
