The warrant review for the suspect will be held by Judge Shin Young-hee, the chief judge of the warrant division. According to police, Kim was driving his mother's car without a license at around 1 p.m. on the 2nd and hit a car at Seocho, Seoul.
He hit a mother in her 30s who was pushing a stroller with a 4-year-old boy in it on a road in Songpa-gu and then fled the scene.
He was arrested after repeatedly hitting cars and driving the wrong way on a road in Yeoksam-dong, Gu. Nine people were slightly injured in the accident, and Kim's car and other cars and motorcycles were involved.
A total of eight vehicles were damaged. It was revealed that Kim was driving from his mother's house in Songpa-gu to his home in Shinnonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, despite his mother's pleas to stay behind.
During police questioning, the suspect, Kim, reportedly stated, "I had insomnia and took a sedative. I had driven my mother's car many times before the accident."
It was revealed that Kim attended a driving school but was unable to obtain a driver's license. The previous day, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that it had decided to arrest Kim, taking into consideration the seriousness of the crime and the risk of him fleeing.
The police applied for a bundle warrant. The police also applied charges of violating the Special Law on Traffic Accident Handling, considering the seriousness of the negligence in the investigation. The police have taken Kim into custody and are sending him to the National Forensic Service (NSS).
