公共図書館として初の自動化倉庫を導入、ソウル市が後援と連動した新たな図書館を造成=韓国
The first automated warehouse has been installed in a public library, and the city of Seoul has established a new library in cooperation with the city's sponsors (South Korea)
The Seoul Metropolitan Government held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first city library, the Kim Byung-ju Library, which will be built in the western part of the city. The library will be named after the Kim Byung-ju Library, which will cost 30 billion won (approximately 3.3152 billion won), which is about half of the construction cost.
The name comes from the chairman of private equity fund MBK Partners, who donated 80,000 yen to the library. The library is located in Bukgaja-dong, Seodaemun-gu, and has 1 basement floor and 2 floors.
It will be built with five floors above ground and a total floor area of 9,109 square meters. The total cost of the project is 67.5 billion won (approximately 7.4 billion yen). The biggest feature is the park's design that blends in with the nearby Gajeul Central Park.
The library will be a cultural space that is loved by families. It will have a pilotis and be developed as an outdoor reading space that is linked to the park and nature. There will also be a rooftop garden on the roof, which acts as a performance space.
The interior has an open atmosphere with a maximum ceiling height of 5 meters. It is the first public library in Korea to have an automated book storage (AS) system, which uses robots to search for, arrange, and lend books.
The city is currently building a complex of public housing and a library in Sillim-dong.
A wooden city library will be constructed in Jeongnong-dong and is scheduled to open by 2030.
