Fire breaks out on vessel operating offshore in Yangyang...sinks after rescuing crew (Gangwon Province, South Korea)
A fire broke out on a fishing boat operating in the sea off Yangyang, Gangwon Province, South Korea, and was put out two hours and 50 minutes later.
According to the Sokcho Maritime Police Station, the incident occurred around 6:40 pm on the 7th in the sea about 50 km east of Yangyang Fisheries Port.
A fire broke out on the 9.77-ton fishing boat A while it was in the water. Upon receiving the report, the Sokcho Maritime Police used the fishing boat position transmitting device (V-PASS) to request rescue assistance from nearby fishing boats.
After completing the rescue of the crew, the Coast Guard used fire extinguishing equipment to put out the fire. All of the fire was put out, but the ship sank.
The Coast Guard is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
