Jessi not indicted in case of ”acquaintance assaulting fan”; producer referred to prosecutors in Korea
South Korean solo singer and rapper Jessi, who was under investigation by police for her involvement in an assault on an underage fan, has been released without charges.
According to the police on the 7th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, South Korea, recently arrested singer Jae-in, who is suspected of blackmail, harboring a criminal, and evading arrest.
The producer, who was also indicted and charged, was found guilty of participating in the assault and was referred to the prosecutor's office.
An Interpol warrant has been issued for the suspect. On the night of September 29th, in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, an acquaintance of Jessi indiscriminately assaulted an underage fan who had requested to take a photo with him.
At the time, Jesse tried to stop the assailant, but left the scene while the assault was still going on. Police were called to the scene and found Jesse and his friends at a nearby bar, but the assailant was not present.
In the end, the victim filed a complaint against the man who assaulted her, as well as four others, including Jesse, for assault. A citizen also filed a complaint with the police against Jesse for concealing the perpetrator.
After further investigation, the police concluded that there was no evidence that Jesse had participated in the assault or made any threats, and that he could not be considered to have allowed the perpetrator to escape, and therefore decided not to prosecute Jesse.
Jessi appeared at the police station on the 16th of last month and said, "I want the perpetrator to be found quickly and punished. I will tell the whole story," and "I'm sorry (to the victim)."
