In a letter, Choi Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (and chairman of SK Group), said, "I am grateful for former President Trump's firm and decisive decision-making.
"His leadership will help accelerate the recovery of the U.S. economy and contribute to the sustained prosperity of the global economy," Choi said. "For the past 70 years, the two countries have worked closely together based on a strong security alliance.
"We have built a close economic partnership," he said. "Korean companies are helping to strengthen the U.S. manufacturing industry and create jobs through active investment in cutting-edge technology fields such as automobiles, semiconductors and batteries."
"As a long-standing partner of the American business community, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry is in communication with American companies and government agencies to promote economic cooperation between the two countries," he said.
"I will continue to work to create opportunities for cooperation between the two countries and further strengthen our long-standing partnership under Trump's second term," he said.
Meanwhile, the Korea Business Association also sent a congratulatory message to Trump, saying, "The Trump administration will further strengthen the strong Korea-U.S. alliance and build a strong economic relationship between the two countries on the foundation of the Korea-U.S. FTA (Free Trade Agreement)."
"I also hope that economic cooperation between the two countries will expand and develop."
