In response to the issue, the Ministry of Employment and Labor demanded that HYBE's "best company" title be revoked, but the Ministry of Employment and Labor has not commented on the progress of the investigation into the revocation of the top company title or the future schedule, citing the receipt of a petition and investigation by the local government.
The petitioner pointed out that this is nothing more than the department's sabotage of the request to ensure the integrity of the system, which was raised in the National Assembly's next formality.
"The highest corporate cancellation for workplace bullying has already been implemented for XXX in April 2022. There is already a precedent for this, but a prompt decision has not been made.
"We request that the National Assembly investigate and promptly handle this matter," he added. Prior to this, HYBE was selected as the "Best Company to Work in Korea for 2024" in September.
Companies selected as high-performing companies will be given the Presidential Certificate of Approval, as well as other benefits such as integrated employment tax credits, immigration preferential cards, deferral of regular tax audits, preferential credit evaluations, and preferential visa stays.
However, on the 15th of last month, NewJeans member HANI appeared as a witness at the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee's National Assembly audit and claimed to have been bullied in the workplace, leading to the deaths of HYBE's top executives.
Demands for the company's selection to be revoked flooded in. HANI revealed that she had heard other managers of HYBE say, "Ignore it," but the Ministry of Employment and Labour said that it would be necessary to take measures to prevent the company from being selected if it were to cause social controversy or become a problem.
In addition, on the 24th of last month, during a parliamentary audit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, HYBE's provocative appearance evaluations were revealed.
In response, HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang said, "The contents of this document were extremely inappropriate. We are not aware of any inappropriate content aimed at K-pop artists.
Regarding the fact that provocative and explicit language was included as is and that the content was left as a document, on behalf of the company, I acknowledge all mistakes and feel a deep sense of responsibility."
Meanwhile, HYBE has been surrounded by various controversies, including the allegations of workplace bullying exposed by HANI, as well as allegations of concealing death from overwork.
If the proposal is approved for submission to the plenary session after the review, it will be sent to the plenary session for deliberation and a vote.
