It has been reported that a victim of sexual assault attending a disciplinary committee meeting at the Institute for Defense Studies was unable to tolerate the insulting behavior of the disciplinary committee member and jumped off a building, resulting in serious injuries.
According to JTBC's "Incident Team Leader" on the 8th of this month, employee A of the National Defense Science Research Institute went on a business trip with his colleague B in August of this year. However, B broke into A's lodgings.
Fortunately, Ms. A strongly refused, and Mr. B's crime was unsuccessful. Ms. A then reported this to the company's complaint handling committee, which then took responsibility for the victim's statement and the actual situation.
Based on CCTV footage from the workplace, the court recognized the sexual harassment and decided to impose minor disciplinary action against B. At the time, A was deeply shocked by the incident and took leave immediately after the incident.
However, at the disciplinary committee meeting held on the 4th of this month, A suffered a second assault from the disciplinary committee members. According to A's side, the disciplinary committee chairman told A, "Take psychiatric medication and
"I think that this caused confusion and delusions," he said. In addition, one of the committee members said, "The (perpetrator) and the victim have a special relationship. You're the problem," making it seem as if A was after money.
When A started to cry and protest, the disciplinary committee moved A to another room, saying that he was "interfering with the investigation." A said, "If the organization doesn't protect me, I can't protect myself either."
He then reportedly left the conference room saying, "I can't stand it," and jumped five meters out of a window in an adjacent room. In the accident, Mr. A sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his spine, pelvis, wrists, and ankles.
A's side said, "The incident was not resolved so quickly that a disciplinary committee was finally held three months after the incident, and the disciplinary committee even insulted the victim."
The Institute for Defense Studies said in a statement to the head of the incident team that it "cannot comment on matters related to the incident, such as the remarks of the disciplinary committee," and "will cooperate with the investigation."
