China CPI up 0.3% year-on-year in October - Chinese report
The National Bureau of Statistics of China announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October on the 9th. According to the announcement, the national CPI for October rose 0.3% compared to the same month last year.
Industrial prices rose 0.2% in the central and rural areas and 0.3% in the rural areas. Food prices increased 2.9%, non-food prices decreased 0.3%, consumer goods prices increased 0.2%, and service prices increased 0.4%.
Looking at the average value for January to October, the national CPI rose 0.3% compared to the same period last year. Among food prices, the price of pork increased 14.2% compared to the same month last year, fresh vegetables increased 21.6%, and fruit increased 4.
The national CPI for October was down 0.3% from September, with the decline in urban areas being 0.3% and in rural areas being 0.3%. Food prices fell 1.2%, while non-food prices fell 1.2%.
Prices of pork, fresh vegetables, and fruit all declined 3.7%, 3.0%, and 1.0%, respectively, from the previous month.
