T'way Airlines posted an operating loss of 22 billion won (US$24.4 million) in the second quarter and a net loss of 25.3 billion won (US$28.2 million) for the current fiscal year.
However, sales rose 14.5% year on year to 395 billion won (approximately JPY 43.8 billion), marking an all-time high for the third quarter.
T'way Airlines said, "Cost of sales increased due to increased investment in various areas related to preparations and operations for long-distance routes. Going forward, we will continue to make the best possible effort to gradually increase our performance."
T'way Air received four European routes as part of the merger process between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, and began full-scale operations in the third quarter of this year.
The airline has launched routes to Rome, Italy and Paris, France, and in September will begin service to Barcelona, Spain.
