TOP (former BIGBANG) appears in ”Squid Game 2” - why doesn't TOP himself appear when the director is present?

Despite Hwang Dong-hyuk, director of the Netflix series "Squid Game" Season 2 (hereinafter "Squid Game 2"), clarifying his position on the casting of T.O.P.
The public's dissatisfaction has not disappeared. TOP seems to be concerned about such views. "Squid Game 2" is about Ki-hoon (played by Lee Jung-jae) who vows revenge and participates in the game again.
The film depicts the fierce battle between the "front man" (played by Lee Byung Hun) and the real game that begins anew. Then, news breaks that TOP will be joining as a new member.
Dissatisfaction has been growing since then. TOP was arrested in July 2017 on suspicion of marijuana use and received a 10-month prison sentence with a two-year suspended sentence. After that, he left the group BIGBANG.
He left the group ANG and announced his retirement from the entertainment industry, but later reversed his decision. This caused a strong backlash from some people, with some saying, "I won't watch 'Squid Game 2'."

By the time we decided to cast TOP, a lot of time had passed, the verdict had already been handed down and the grace period had ended, so if that much time had passed, we would have had to do something else.
"I personally had a lot of interest in him as an actor. It took a lot of courage for him to take on this role, but he was very determined to do it," he said.
It was a decision I made because I thought he was the best fit for the role. I received some criticism, but I had already gone through so much with him that I couldn't start over, so I didn't know why I had to do this film with him.
"I came to the conclusion that the only way to find out is to show the finished product. I would like you to judge for yourself after seeing the finished product."
Why did director Hwang Dong-hyuk have no choice but to cast her in TOPaffair?
TOP has stated that he will not be attending the press conference. He appeared in the film despite public opposition, so why is he not going to attend the press conference with confidence?
