A Polish presidential candidate has pledged to promote Bitcoin stockpiling if he wins the 2025 presidential election.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mentzen reaffirmed his stance that if he becomes president, he will make Poland a more crypto-friendly country, and responded to a question about whether he would introduce a Bitcoin reserve.
Previously, Lech Wilczynski, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Swap.ly, spoke to cryptocurrency advocacy group Satoshi Action
The article shared a draft of the Fund's publicly released "Strategic Bitcoin Stockpiling" policy model and asked Mentzen whether he would be willing to follow the plan if elected.
"The draft bill for a strategic Bitcoin reserve has been released. Why wait? Instead of passing nonsensical bills on crypto assets,
"We need to get this bill done first, before it gets too late," he said, asking, "Will President Slawomir Menzen introduce a strategic reserve in Poland?"
President Menzen responded in the affirmative: "Of course." He wrote in the post: "Poland should create a strategic reserve of Bitcoin. I will create a strategic reserve of Bitcoin.
"If Donald Trump becomes president, our country will become a haven for cryptocurrencies," he said. "We'll see very friendly changes in regulations, lower taxes, and a supportive attitude from banks and regulators."
Polish presidential elections are scheduled to take place around May 2025. Menzen enjoys considerable popularity, especially among liberal and right-leaning voters.
