President Biden approves supply of 'anti-personnel mines' to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has further stepped up "weapons support" for Ukraine. President Biden has lifted restrictions on the use of "long-range ATACMS" missiles to attack the Russian mainland.
Following this, he has now even authorized the use of "anti-personnel mines." The Washington Post reported on the 19th (local time) that "President Biden has approved the supply of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine."
The report, citing two officials, said that President Biden has implemented a total ban on the use of antipersonnel mines outside the Korean Peninsula in June 2022.
However, President Biden has reversed his policy this time because the situation in the Ukraine war has turned unfavorable for Ukraine.
"Russia continues to mobilize its forces and attack Ukraine's eastern front despite suffering heavy casualties. This has resulted in Ukraine suffering losses and becoming more vulnerable to further attacks," the official told WP.
"Many villages and cities are at risk of falling," he said. "These anti-personnel mines are specifically designed to solve this problem."
"When used together with other military equipment already being provided, it will contribute to effective defense," he said. "The anti-personnel mines being provided this time will minimize civilian casualties."
