プーチン氏「ウクライナに “ICBM”ではなく “中距離ミサイル”を発射」
Putin: ”We will launch medium-range missiles, not ICBMs, at Ukraine”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 21st (local time) that "we launched a new medium-range ballistic missile, not an ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile)."
According to Russia's TASS and RIA Novosti news agencies, President Putin addressed the nation on state television that day, saying, "In response to the use of long-range weapons by the United States and the United Kingdom, Russia
"The military carried out a complex attack on one of the facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex on November 21," he said, adding that they "tested one of the newest Russian medium-range missile systems."
"The hypersonic missile, which does not have a nuclear warhead, has been named Oreshnik," he said, adding that the test was a success.
Meanwhile, US officials also said, "We believe that a medium-range ballistic missile, not an ICBM, was used," according to the Associated Press report.
According to the FP news agency, Russia's move is a response to the recent decision by the United States and the UK to allow Ukraine to "attack mainland Russia with its own long-range missiles."
As a result, Ukraine attacked mainland Russia on the 19th and 20th using US-made ATACMS and British-made Storm Shadow missiles, respectively.
