Children's clothes purchased directly from overseas found to contain up to 622 times more phthalate plasticizers than normal in South Korea

The city of Seoul, South Korea, announced on the 22nd that it had conducted safety tests on 26 winter textile products for children and infants that were being sold on an overseas online platform, and found that seven of the products were found to be non-compliant.

The levels of lead and cadmium were found to exceed the threshold of 622 times, 3.6 times, and 3.4 times, respectively. Phthalate plasticizers are endocrine disrupting substances that affect reproductive functions, such as reducing sperm count, causing infertility, and premature birth.
These substances can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, etc. upon contact. Among them, DEHP is a substance designated by the International Cancer Institute as a possible human carcinogen (Class 2B).
Exposure to lead above safe levels can harm reproductive function and increase the risk of cancer.
It can affect brain development, especially during pregnancy, leading to learning and behavioral problems in children.
