According to an interview with Herald POP on the 22nd, Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, filed a lawsuit against the production company of the Disney Plus series "Gangnam B-Side" on the 21st.
The company said it had sent a letter to the police requesting that the scenes and lines in "Gangnam B-Side" be corrected, but has not yet received a response.
No complaint was filed against the city of Pocheon, and the city of Pocheon requested the corrections on its own, out of concern that the image of the area might be tarnished.
"Episode 1 of 'Gangnam B-Side' states, 'This TV series is fiction. The people, places, organizations, and events that appear are not based on fact.
"However, contrary to the notice, the actual name of Pocheon was used," the company said.
He continued, "If you watch episode 1, you'll see a sign for Pocheon Bukbu Police Station, along with lines and subtitles about the incident that took place in Pocheon.
The scene where the mayor of Pocheon's nephew is arrested for drug trafficking and the police chief of Pocheon asks him to let the incident go.
"The film features scenes such as the one in the original. There is a risk that the use of actual place names will tarnish the image of the region, including the impression of corruption, so we have decided to request that they be corrected," the agency said.
The city of Pocheon has requested that the production company delete or revise the problematic scenes and lines (including subtitles) and has asked them to do so by the 27th.
A spokesman for Pocheon city said, "If the request is not met by the 27th, we will take further measures, such as filing a complaint with the Korea Communications Review Commission or the Press Arbitration Commission."
