South Korean prosecutors have requested a four-month prison sentence for a woman in her 30s who was put on trial for posting malicious comments about singer and actress IU.

According to the prosecution's investigation, Mr. A was tried on suspicion of writing four comments in April 2022 that disparaged IU's costumes, singing ability, and comments.
At the closing hearing, Mr. A pleaded for leniency, saying, "I just said simple symbols," and, "I suffer from a mental illness and my writing skills are poor. I hope for relief."
A's lawyer also said, "We expressed our opinion based on facts," and "Although there are some offensive or insulting expressions, we do not condone them."
