Choi Min Hwan speaks out on ”non-prosecution for sex trafficking” but the dispute with YULHEE over ”unilateral claims” continues
FTISLAND member Choi MIN HWAN, who was cleared of charges of sex trafficking and indecent assault on his former wife YULHEE, has finally made his position clear regarding the affair.
On the 29th, Choi Min Hwan wrote on his SNS, "I am very late in expressing my position. After the police investigation revealed that there was no suspicion, I decided to state my position.
"We thought it would be best to report the truth behind it, so it took a while to conduct an accurate investigation," he continued. "At the time, a single word from a member would generate a lot of articles, and
In a situation where the other side's one-sided claims, false facts, and many distorted speculations are being spread as if they were facts, I believe that my taking a position first without any consequences will only make the situation worse.
"I thought that it might cause a stir. Above all, I felt that I needed to sort out the situation well for the sake of my three children," he said, explaining the reason for his silence.
Choi Min Hwan said, "I sincerely apologize to my fans and members. I have caused you a lot of trouble and difficulty.
"I am truly sorry for causing this to happen," he said, "and I truly regret it, and I am deeply and sincerely reflecting on it. I sincerely apologize for disappointing everyone with my actions," he said, promising to take a more responsible and mature attitude.
Choi Min Hwan was accused of visiting entertainment establishments and sexually assaulting his former wife YULHEE in front of her family while he was married to her. YULHEE posted a video of himself on his YouTube channel last month.
Through a video posted on her channel, she learned that Choi Min Hwan had visited an entertainment facility about a year before the divorce, and saw him inserting money into his breast and touching his body while drunk.
The audio recording that was released along with the video included a man believed to be Choi Min Hwan speaking entertainment industry slang, including "young lady."
FNC Entertainment management office said, "It is difficult for us to know about private matters, but Choi Min Hwan has disappointed many members of the public and viewers.
"I feel a sense of responsibility for this incident," he said, "and will cease all media activities, including the programs I appear on with my children."
At the Taiwan concert, Choi Min Hwan performed behind the stage instead of on stage, and the management office subsequently announced that FTISLAND would have a two-person lineup, effectively halting activities.
On the 29th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul decided not to refer the case against Choi Min Hwan for violation of the Sex Trade Punishment Act and indecent assault to the prosecution, citing insufficient evidence.
However, in a situation where moral criticism was already strong even before the legal aspect, Choi Min Hwan reacted to YULHEE's words by calling them a "unilateral claim," which drew attention.
Some interviewees have criticized the recording, saying things like, "How will he explain the audio?" and "Doesn't he feel sorry for his wife, who was once his family?"
Recently, YULHEE filed a petition for adjustment regarding the change of custody and the division of alimony and property at the Seoul Family Court.
It is expected that the dispute will continue.
