South Korean government passes resolution to end martial law at Cabinet meeting

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol presided over a Cabinet meeting on the 4th and passed a bill to lift martial law, as requested by the National Assembly.
The Prime Minister's Office announced on the same day that "the Cabinet meeting passed a resolution to lift martial law at 4:30 a.m."
President Yoon said, "At 11 o'clock last night, I declared emergency preparedness with a firm determination to save the nation, to confront the anti-national forces that are paralyzing the essential functions of the nation and destroying the constitutional order of liberal democracy.
"However, shortly before, the National Assembly requested that martial law be lifted, and the troops that had been deployed for martial law were withdrawn," he said.
As a result, President Yoon announced emergency martial law in a speech to the nation at around 10:23 a.m. on the previous night (3rd).
However, martial law was lifted six hours later. Since the Martial Law Command issued a proclamation along with the declaration of emergency martial law, South Korea was under emergency martial law as of 11:00 the previous night.
However, at 1 a.m. on the 4th, a motion calling for the lifting of martial law was submitted to the plenary session and passed unanimously with all 190 Diet members in attendance.
As a result, the martial law troops that had been deployed to the National Diet were also withdrawn.
