South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: ”We have been in close communication with the US since the announcement of martial law”

Regarding the impact of the state of emergency on U.S.-South Korea relations, the South Korean government stated that it is "currently maintaining close communication with the United States."

"The U.S. side has stated through statements by the Secretary of State and other means that it supports South Korean democracy and the strong ROK-U.S. alliance, and maintains close ties with South Korea."
"They have made it clear that they are in close communication with the ROK," he said, adding, "We view this as an attempt to clarify the United States' strong commitment to the ROK-U.S. alliance."
He also emphasized that "the government will continue to communicate and strive to ensure that the ROK-U.S. alliance develops unwaveringly."
