According to a key source of the People Power Party, on the 8th, the party announced that it would hold a vote during the emergency general meeting of lawmakers after some lawmakers strongly opposed the decision of the floor leadership not to participate in the impeachment motion vote.
As a result of the vote, only nine out of the 108 members voted in favor, while the remaining 99 were all opposed, maintaining their decision not to participate.
In fact, the People Power Party lawmakers who participated in the impeachment motion vote the previous day were Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Ye-ji, and Kim Sang-wook.
Only three people participated in the vote, and Rep. Kim Sang-wook voted against impeachment, saying he would “follow the party line.” A source from the People Power Party said, “Some lawmakers are voicing their opposition to the impeachment motion.
"There have been rumors circulating that we will confiscate and control our mobile phones to prevent us from participating in the impeachment vote, but that is completely untrue," he said, explaining, "The decision to not participate in the impeachment vote was in accordance with the will of the majority of lawmakers."
Meanwhile, the vote on the previous day to impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol was scrapped due to a lack of 200 registered lawmakers (195 people) to reach a decision.
