Mayor Hong wrote in a post on Feibook that day, "The impeachment election in May 2017 was a disaster. The conservative camp in Korea was destroyed.
Regarding the current situation, he wrote, "The opponent is a candidate who is a mass of fraud, and the conservative camp was not annihilated like it was then. Let's stand up and deal with it boldly."
He continued, "Even if he has been impeached, it is President Yoon Seok-yeol, a mercenary, who has been impeached, not the Korean conservative camp. We simply made a mistake in choosing one mercenary. Do not flinch."
In another post, Mayor Hong had previously said to People Power Party Chairman Han Dong-hoon, "Instead of doing such things, you (Chairman Han) should come down too."
Mayor Hong said, "The reason this happened is because of the rift between the novice president and the novice party chairman. How can you have the authority to remove the president who was elected by the people from his position?
Mayor Hong responded, "The only way is through impeachment proceedings. Impeachment has changed many times, but is it really possible to blackmail the president and take control of the country with only eight votes?"
He added, "The people of the Republic of Korea have never entrusted you (Chairman Han) with national affairs. If things have come to the point of impeachment, then it is only natural that the party chairman should take responsibility and resign."
He also demanded, "When Park Geun-hye was impeached, the party leader resigned. You should also resign before further chaos occurs." Mayor Hong said, "Don't be so cocky and play the role of president by yourself like you did during the general election.
I have no intention of joining forces with him, and it would be responsible politics if you resigned like a man," he said.
