Japan, South Korea strengthen mutual cooperation in disaster management
Japan and South Korea will strengthen mutual cooperation in the field of disaster management. On the 9th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of South Korea will hold the 17th Japan-Korea Disaster Management Conference in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, where Park Hyun-bae, Director of Natural Disaster Management, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will attend.
The Japan-Korea Conference on Disaster Management was held as a follow-up measure to the 1998 Japan-Korea summit, and is a forum for the two countries to work together on disaster prevention cooperation.
The conference has been held since 1999 to discuss disaster management issues. Delegates from both countries will participate in this conference to share best practices in disaster management and discuss ways of cooperation.
The Korean government delegation will discuss: △ Living environment and support measures for disaster victims △ Development process of disaster management organization in Korea △ Identification of potential disaster risk factors
The living environment and support measures for disaster victims are common issues for both countries, and by sharing emergency living environment support systems and know-how for disaster victims, we can effectively
The two sides will discuss the development of disaster management organizations in the Republic of Korea and ways to improve them. Japan, which is currently preparing to establish a disaster management agency, will be able to refer to the Korean disaster management system.
In terms of identifying potential disaster risk factors, electric vehicle fires have recently emerged as a disaster risk factor, so we asked South Korea to share its preemptive response and experience.
