South Korean Defense Minister ”attempts suicide”...Currently ”no abnormalities” in health
Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who is said to have advised South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol to declare emergency martial law, has attempted suicide in the detention center where he is currently being held.
Shin Yong-hye, head of the Corrections Bureau of the Ministry of Justice of South Korea, made the remarks during a questioning session on pending issues of the Ministry of Justice at the Legislation and Judicial Affairs Committee held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 11th.
Shin said, "According to what I was informed, at around 11:52 p.m. last night (10th), (former Defense Minister Kim) tied his underwear together in a string in the bathroom and strung it around himself."
"The attempt to kill him ended in failure when staff discovered him in the act," he explained. "He is currently being held in a protective room, and we have been informed that there are no abnormalities in his health," he added.
