The Ukrainian military has produced leaflets and videos urging North Korean troops to surrender. The leaflets, which contain instructions on how to surrender in Hangul, will be scattered along the front lines where North Korean troops are stationed.
The leaflet, titled "How to Save Your Life," asks North Korean troops to "lay down their weapons, approach Ukrainian troops holding white cloth or leaflets, and stand with their faces to the ground."
The message reads, "Please lie on your stomach." In addition, "pictures" are also drawn to make it easier to understand. Prior to this, the Ukrainian military had already issued a tagline saying, "I want to live."
A 1 minute 14 second informational video was posted in Korean on the Telegram channel of North Korean prisoners of war. The video shows a full view of the detention facility for North Korean prisoners of war, the inside of the sleeping quarters, and the area where meals are prepared.
The video includes footage of North Korean soldiers being killed and wounded. The Ukrainian military is trying to persuade North Korean soldiers by offering them a place to rest, food and warmth.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces also launched psychological operations shortly after the outbreak of the war in 2022 to encourage Russian soldiers to surrender.
Around 350 Russian soldiers reportedly surrendered to Ukraine during the operation.
