Kenya Fire Brigade Association becomes first trade union to introduce Bitcoin reserve

The Kenya National Fire Brigade Association (KENFIBA) has become the first trade union in Kenya to introduce Bitcoin reserves.
On the 11th (local time), the Kenya National Fire Brigade Association (KENFIBA) union announced that it would adopt Bitcoin.
This was done through "get off zero" donations in collaboration with labor unions and Proof of Workforce, a non-profit organization that supports worker adoption of Bitcoin.
The news was announced today at the Africa Bitcoin Conference.
Workforce said on social media that the cryptocurrency fund will be used to expand firefighting capacity in Kenya and that KENFIBA has added Bitcoin assets.
"This is not only the first Bitcoin-holding trade union in Kenya, but likely the first on the entire African continent," he said.
A user who goes by the name "Otudor" posted a correction saying that "the academic staff union at one federal university in Nigeria already has a Bitcoin reserve."
But the allegations have not been verified, said Magdalena, an adviser to Proof of Workforce.
