In a statement, he strongly denied the establishment of the crime of treason and the unconstitutionality of emergency martial law. As he is a lawyer and a former member of the prosecutor's office in charge of criminal proceedings, he attended the hearing in person and actively participated.
President Yoon said, "The declaration of emergency martial law is an act of governance by the president," and with regard to the crime of treason, he said, "I simply deployed a small number of troops for a short time to maintain order.
"Neither of these are grounds for impeachment," he said.
