Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People's Power Party, said, ”The People's Power Party is a shipwreck... I want to blow up the party and bring about comprehensive reforms” (South Korea)
Yoon Sang Hyun, a member of the ruling People's Power Party, said on the 17th about the internal conflict in his own party, "As I emphasized at the last party conference, selfishness and cowardice were rampant.
"We must carry out creative destruction and comprehensive reform of the party with the sincere intention of blowing up the center of the party," he said in a statement on his Feibook.
"The nation is facing a crisis like a shipwreck," he said. "We desperately need leadership to overcome the crisis and find a way forward, but we are still in the midst of a politics of subtraction and internal conflict," Rep. Yoon said.
"We are stuck in a quagmire of internal conflict. It is a fact that everyone knows that the cause of the shipwreck is internal," he wrote. He continued, "I cannot listen to the voices of the crew who are screaming on board with me.
"If we don't do that, we will all ultimately sink. We need to listen to the voices of our party members broadly and find a solution," he added.
"We all bear a great responsibility. We are the ones most responsible for the crisis," Yoon said.
"Even if we come up with a solution among ourselves, it will be difficult to gain public support. We need to listen to a wide range of voices from both inside and outside the party, set up an emergency response committee, and completely change the whole picture," he said.
He also mentioned the words of the great Russian writer Nikolai Nekrasov, who said, "To live without sadness and anger is to not love one's country," and said, "I have a strong feeling for the Party.
"Living without anger and sadness means not loving the party," he repeatedly emphasized. "In order to face the current situation squarely and take steps to overcome the crisis, we need the power of not only our own lawmakers, but also party members and the people.
"A broader collective voice, including civil society groups that still support the cause, will help save the wreck," he wrote.
