According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticketing computer network on the morning of the 19th, "Firefighter" surpassed the new "Revenge of King Hwasa" and maintained its No. 1 position at the overall box office.
The film ranked first at the box office overall and drew over 2 million viewers. With 81,230 viewers the previous day, the total number of viewers is now 2,005,651.
"Firefighters," which was released on the 4th of this month, is about the efforts of the firefighters to put out the fire and rescue everyone in the harsh conditions when a fire broke out in the Hongje-dong area of Seoul in 2001.
The film tells the story of firefighters who are sent to the hospital with the goal of helping others. "Firefighter" is the second Korean film to reach 2 million viewers in 94 days after "Veteran 2" did so on September 15.
It is heating up theaters this winter. In particular, it is a day faster growth than "Wonka," which was in the top six of the box office in 2024 and exceeded 2 million viewers on the 16th day of its release.
This is five days faster than the top-five Korean film, "Escape," which surpassed 2 million viewers on the 20th day after its release.
The driving force behind the enthusiastic box office success is the positive influence that the "firefighters" have had on the audience.
"Firefighter" is also running a "119 Won Donation Challenge," in which each paying spectator will donate 119 won in cash to improve the equipment and working conditions of firefighters in the Republic of Korea.
The "119 Won Donation Challenge" encourages people to donate to firefighters just by watching the movie "Firefighter." The donations will be used to support the National Fire Hospital, which is scheduled to open in 2025.
The number of followers has now surpassed 2 million, with donations of 238 million won (approximately 25 million yen) confirmed. The group is continuing to work towards its second goal of 2.5 million followers.
In terms of real-time advance ticket sales, the movie "Harbin," starring Hyun Bin, which is scheduled to be released on the 24th, is currently leading the way.
The number of viewers is 169,981, and it is already approaching 200,000. The advance ticket sales rate is 36.4%, followed by "Rainbow Six Siege: Hwasa" with 65,121 advance tickets and "Firefighter" with 44,000 advance tickets.
It ranked third with 62,840 visitors.
