Japan-Korea High-Level Economic Consultation to be held on the 20th... ”Striving to strengthen economic cooperation in light of domestic circumstances”
The 16th Japan-Korea High-Level Economic Consultation Meeting, which the Korean and Japanese governments have been discussing holding this year, will be held tomorrow (20th) in Tokyo, Japan, the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 19th.
The conference, which will be attended by Kim Hee-sang, Coordinator for Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and Takeshi Akahori, Deputy Director-General for Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, will cover the trends of the global economy, the current state of cooperation between the two countries, and topics related to the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea.
The two countries will discuss ways to expand cooperation, as well as bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation in specific fields. Last year, Japan and South Korea re-launched the High-Level Economic Consultation Meeting for the first time in about eight years.
A Foreign Ministry official said, "The council will review the current status of comprehensive economic cooperation between Japan and South Korea."
"I hope that the two countries can develop a future-oriented cooperative relationship," he said. "Despite the recent domestic situation, I hope that Korea's international credibility will remain healthy and that we will be able to maintain good relations with major countries," he added.
"We continue to make efforts to strengthen economic cooperation," he said.
