The survey was conducted by four Korean polling companies, Mbrain Public, KEI Stat Research, Korea Research, and Korea Research, on 15-18 May, surveying 1,002 men and women aged 18 and over.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted in the same month, President Yoon's approval rating was calculated to be 16% in the third week of December. In the previous survey (the third week of November), President Yoon's approval rating was 27%.
Since then, President Yoon's approval rating has fallen 11 percentage points amid the imposition of a state of emergency, the passage of an impeachment motion against the president and his suspension from office, and the start of an impeachment trial by the Constitutional Court.
Disapproval rose 11 percentage points from the previous survey to 79%. Regarding the direction of President Yoon's administration, 18% answered that it was "in the right direction," and 10% said it was "in the wrong direction."
The answer "the direction of the Democratic Party of Korea" was 76%. Meanwhile, the approval rating for political parties was 39% for the largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, and 26% for the ruling party, the People Power Party. The Democratic Party of Korea has increased by 8 percentage points since the last survey.
The ruling party's support rose by 4 percentage points, followed by the Fatherland Reform Party (8%), the New Reform Party (2%) and the Progressive Party (1%).
Regarding the National Assembly's passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon, 78% of respondents said it was the right decision.
The answer "It's a wrong decision" was given at 18%. Regarding the expected outcome of the impeachment trial by the Constitutional Court, 73% answered "He will be removed from office," and 100% answered "It will be dismissed and he will be reinstated to his duties."
The answer "return" was calculated as 21%.
