According to Seoul City's population data on the 22nd, the population of Jongno 1-4-ga-dong was the highest at 86,682 people as of 7 p.m. on December 24th of last year.
The resident population refers to the total population in a given area at a specific point in time (hourly intervals). This was estimated by Seoul City and KT using public big data and communication data.
The next busiest place was Myeongdong, with 83,487 people. However, when looking at the ranking by area and population, Myeongdong was the most crowded.
This is because Myeong-dong has an area of just 0.99 square kilometers, while Jongno 1-4-ga is more than twice as large at 2.35 square kilometers.
This was followed by Yeoui-dong (76,002 people), Jamsil 3-dong (72,784 people), and Jamsil 6-dong (70,418 people).
In this year's Christmas season, the "Seoul Light Gwanghwamun" illuminates the exterior of Gwanghwamun with beautiful lights, and the "Gwanghwamun Market" is a Santa village-themed Christmas market.
Large-scale events such as the Seoul Market are planned, and many people are expected to gather. The Seoul Metropolitan Government will set up a comprehensive situation room and monitor the crowds in real time using CCTV.
The plan is to take every possible measure to ensure safety, including monitoring.
