需要が拡大するAIによる犯罪捜査、法的ガイドラインが必須=韓国
Demand for AI-based crime investigations is growing, but legal guidelines are essential - South Korea
Crimes that abuse digital technology, such as DeepFei, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create fake images, and voice phishing, which uses AI to change voices, are rampant, and there is a demand for AI technology to prevent crime.
AI startup S2W is cooperating with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in cyber investigations with its dark web analysis technology that uses AI.
In 2017, the company analyzed the flow of virtual currency by criminal organizations and the dark web, contributing to the crackdown on the organization. In addition, the Seoul Central Police Station has set up a system that automatically connects calls to the police when certain words are said during a call.
In order to build an AI telephone system that can respond to calls, the company has partnered with Servas AI, which develops speaker recognition AI technology. Deep Brain AI, which creates virtual humans, has also partnered with the Korea National Police Agency to develop a digital telephone system.
However, experts say that legal guidelines are needed to expand the use of AI technology in criminal investigations.
Professor Kim Do of Kyungnam University explains, "Lie detectors are highly reliable, but their results are only used as reference material."
Jeong Wan, a professor at the Kyung Hee University Graduate School of Law, said, "Without a legal basis for AI investigations, AI technology will remain a supplementary tool, and it will be difficult to secure budgets for it.
It will be," he said.
